Darren Bent: It could be a really good year for us
Villa narrowly avoided the drop under Alex McLeish last season and recruited Lambert from Norwich in a bid to turn their fortunes around.
England striker Bent, who missed out on a place in the Euro 2012 squad because of injury, said: “We have some good youngsters coming through and this year is their chance to shine.
“With one or two additions Lambert brings in, it could be a really good year for us.
“Last season some of the youngsters had to come in and play five or six games straight off and they had never done that before.
“But they are a season on now and know what to expect from the Premier League.
“This season they will really shine and I really think Villa are going places.”
